Garage owner Jan Lord from Guide Bridge MOT and Service Centre in Ashton under Lyne nominated Willow Wood Hospice.

Jan said "Willow Wood cares for the local people of Tameside and I was shocked to hear it costs £4.38 a minute to maintain! The hospice means so much to a lot of people I know in this area as it touches so many of our customers". She went on to explain what it means to her, "I have helped raise much needed funds for the hospice in the past as I have known friends who have used their services - they work so hard to provide the services they offer, the hospice is warm and inviting and to sponsor them would be my way of saying thank you".

Jan was absolutely delighted to receive a cheque for her nomination of £2885.20.

Garage Owner Peter Green from PG Village Garage in Guildford, was taken by surprise upon receiving the call from Sharon at Holman informing him that he too had been successful in securing an award of £2885.20 for his nominated charity, White Lodge Centre.

Peters on line nomination said "White Lodge is a local charity to me which supports disabled adults and children & babies from the local community, they also offer respite care for parents. They have to raise at least £300k a year just to open the doors". Peter also went on to say that as well as this, his wife worked at the centre and that they spent a lot of their spare time attending and organizing fundraising events on behalf of the charity. Jane Cartwright from White Lodge was presented with her cheque by Sharon Edwards, Supplier Relations Manager, from ARI. Jane has worked at White Lodge for 8 years.

This next nomination for the charity Multiple Sclerosis Society was made by Ross Berndes, the owner of Ross Motors in Edmonton, London, on behalf of Mark Gibson, his garage manager, whose 23 year old daughter was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when she was just 13.

Ross' nomination said "The charity has provided research and treatment and is constantly researching for new and better treatment for this condition". Upon calling the garage we managed to speak to Mark himself who told us that he had worked with Ross since he was 15 years old. The MS society had personally provided much needed support for his family and had made great in roads into the treatment and care for sufferers.

Mark was delighted with his award of £4327.80, presented by Peter Janes, Network Development Manager for Holman, to him and garage owner Ross. Unfortunately his daughter Kelly Gibson was unable to be there due a pre-arranged hospital appointment.

Garage owner Tom Newell, from Station Auto Services in Hereford, was equally surprised when Holman called him to announce the nomination made by his staff member Zena Dyche, his office administrator, had been chosen and had awarded them £2885.20 for their chosen charity The County Air Ambulance, a charity that they have actively supported and raised funds for on a regular basis.

The cheque was presented to Lois Benton of the County Air Ambulance Trust, by Peter Janes, Holman Network Development Manager, and Tom Newell, at Station Autos.

A Holman staff nomination was received from Holman Client Relations Manager, Kim Noble, for a charity dear to her heart. The Little Laura charity was founded in memory of her Granddaughter Laura tragically killed when she was just 20.

Kim said "Laura was killed by a Lorry driver who was using his phone to access Internet sites whilst driving". She went on to say, "The charity was established to carry on the work that Laura had started in her short life. She was training to be a teacher at a school for special needs children, Marshlands School in Stafford and she also was a volunteer at the local Riding for the Disabled centre." Kim was delighted to hear that The Little Laura charity had been awarded £1442.60.

The cheque was presented by Peter Janes, Network Development Manager, ARI.
